Tyler Wigglesworth
Vocal Music Pillar Director
Tyler Wigglesworth is a graduate of The Biola University Conservatory of Music. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in Voice and Choral Conducting. Wigglesworth has studied voice under the direction of Dr. Susannah Murray and Mr. Tyler Thompson. In addition, he studied conducting with Mr. John Tebay, Mr. Robert Feller, and Dr. Shawna Stewart. Tyler has performed in and conducted such groups as the Biola University Chorale, the Biola University Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and the Paul Delgado Singers. He has participated in all of Biola University’s Opera Theater & Musical Theater Productions during the years of 2009-2012.
Wigglesworth was named a Quarterfinalist for the Grammy Award for Music Educator of the Year for both 2018, 2019, & 2023. He was a part of the Class of 2023 for Yamaha’s 40 under 40 of Excellent Music Educators. In addition, he also was invited to be a guest conductor for the Pacific Symphony Orchestra in Irvine California. Tyler has conducted in venues across the nation such as Carnegie Hall and internationally in countries such as Germany, Czech Republic, and Scotland. Furthermore, Wigglesworth has been a sought-after adjudicator for select choral festivals and is an advocate for premiering new music compositions. He has worked with composers and songwriters, to bring new world premieres to West Covina High School, such as Melanie Penn, AJ Harbison, Joel Balzun and Trevor Gomes.
Tyler has been impacting the next generation of musicians as the Choir Director at West Covina High School (WCHS) since 2013 and the Performing Arts Academy Coordinator at WCHS since 2020. One of the biggest initiatives that Tyler Wigglesworth has been to bring the students of West Covina High School into the Music Industry. He has cultivated relationships with organizations such as the Walt Disney Company, The Los Angeles Clippers, The Los Angeles Angels, and The Los Angeles Sparks. In addition, he has cultivated relationships for the department, with music industry professionals such as Vangie Gunn, Gordon Goodwin, Ron Colvard, Joel Balzun, Matthew Kellaway, and Andy Lunsford to name a few.
In addition to his work with the Choral Department and the Performing Arts Academy, Wigglesworth also has been the Music Director for various companies and organizations including West Covina High School. He has worked on productions of In the Heights, Hairspray, Bright Star, How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, A Christmas Story: The Musical, Shrek: The Musical, Legally Blonde, Mamma Mia, High School Musical as well as an upcoming production of Matilda.
